Baylee's Drunk'n Raisin Sauce

This heavenly treat is the newest creation from Bernie and Denise Szarek’s farm in Upstate New York. It’s a terrific accompaniment for poultry, pork and fish, and can be spooned on top to make a deliciously rich glaze. Putting some on ice cream or pound cake & then topping with whipped cream makes for a mouth-watering dessert.

The sauce was developed from a recipe used by Denise’s Grandma Tucker. She would serve it over the family’s Easter Ham or over spice cake. The Szarek’s have added just “a little” rum to give it some “zip”!

Here’s what The Nibble had to say about it:

“…our favorite (Old Goat) product is the magnificent Drunk’n Raisin Sauce. Redolent of rum and raisins (dark and gold) in a buttery orange base, this is the product we’ll buy by the case for house gifts and stocking stuffers. Thick as a compote, it is a universal accompaniment for:

• Fowl, ham and pork
• Pound cake and ice cream (either/or, or make a pound cake à la mode with Drunk’n Raisin Sauce on top and a bit of whipped cream)
• Pancakes
• Toast and English muffins

Once you taste it, you’ll come up with many more pairings.”

The product was named after Baylee, Bernie & Denise Szarek’s Pembroke Welsh Corgi, the official “goat herder” at Szarek Farm. Baylee feels rightfully proud & honored to have Szarek Farms’ favorite product named after him.

Szarek Farms is a great example of the old maxim, "necessity is the mother of invention". A small greenhouse grower in Central New York, the husband and wife team of Denise and Bernie Szarek grows tomatoes, peppers and herbs. They do not use pesticides on their farm.
