American Feast, LLC :: Artisanal & Crafted Cheeses :: Sole' GranQueso

Sole' GranQueso

Sole' GranQueso
In 2004 and 2005 Solé GranQueso was the First Place winner at the American Cheese Society and Gold Medalist at the 2005 World Cheese Awards in London. A Roth Käse original, it’s similar in style to Spanish Manchego. GranQueso has a firm body and a rich, full flavor. This handcrafted cheese is shelf-cured and has a traditional “basket-weave” rind.

Taking pages out of the cheesemaking books of the Iberian peninsula, Roth Käse’s master cheesemakers set out to craft an authentic Spanish-style cheese. They cracked open a bottle of Rioja, read Don Quixote cover-to-cover, and finally came up with the aptly named GranQueso™ – truly a great cheese. Made from the freshest cow’s milk, GranQueso™ is handcrafted in limited quantities and carefully cured in Roth Kase’s affinage cellars for 6 months. The distinctive basket-weave patterned rind with a reddish coat makes for an attractive presentation.

Firm-bodied, with an ivory interior, GranQueso™ has a satisfying sharp bite and a lingering sweet finish. Purists will enjoy it on its own, perhaps with a glass of Spanish wine. Tapas is a natural menu application (Serrano ham is the classic partner). GranQueso™ shreds and grates well, and it adds depth of flavor to cooked and baked dishes. GranQueso is a superb addition to any cheese board, and is perfect for grating on soups and salads.

A Standard order is 2 wheels. Each wheel is 6 pounds; making the total for the order 12 pounds.
